A (Sociological) Unified Theory

After solving a number of man's stickiest physics problems in 1905, Albert Einstein turned his attention to (among other things) the development of a "Unified Theory:" a theory of everything binding all of physics together in a coherent, consistent bundle. Over 100 years of effort later that has not yet been done but at least we are being teased by notable theoretical physicists promising that something called String Theory may yet get the job done. This seems like child's play now, when one attempts to explain the behavior of ostensibly sane, temporarily free members of Western Civilization when confronted with a multitude of threats to their freedom. What would such a unified theory of the behavior of the intellectually elite, politically correct, capitalist hating and enemy loving among us yield?

Right now, we can only offer a trial specification for a solution. A proper theory would explain, for example...

How liberated women can defend Islam, a faith that would knock their teeth out for speaking out of turn?
How American college professors spew venom against a system that allows them historically unprecedented freedom of expression.
How Christians in a predominantly Christian nation have allowed the virtual banning of the mention of Christ or Christmas in their country while Islamic and Jewish and Scandinavian and myriad other traditions are taught in grade schools every day?
How a national media figure can call Christians "chanting morons" and receive scant attention while a pro golfer who jokes about a fried chicken dinner for Tiger Woods nearly loses his career?
How a Dan Rather wins a Press Club award for perpetrating a proven politically motivated fraud?
How the right to abort pregnancy at will can become the most important single issue in an otherwise sane person's life.
How lies become truth by constant repetition.
How politicians poll to determine their next words.
How the poor insecure entertainer, Madonna, is looked upon with adulation instead of pity.
How a country which cannot provide for its own energy needs bans explorations off its shores.
How a followers of a peaceful religion are so involved with murder, terrorism and threats.

Many more queries demand solution of a Sociological Unified Theory. What a theory that would be! But it would probably not solve a resultant question that would surely follow it's advent...

Given the answers, why do we persist in our lunacy?
