It's Not Working Until We Say It's Working

John Wixted at
Back Talk (thanks to
Power Line Blog for the heads up) has posted
Americans Hate Their Fabulous Economy. Reading, we are stunned to learn that our economy may not be quite as bad as (the polls say) we believe. I'm not sure if I trust this guy. He uses charts, data and comparisons. Facts, you might say. Can I really evaluate these without the aid of slogans and opinion from say, Keith Olbermann? Says John,
"You can learn more from a few informative charts than you can from reading the words of a reporter who has an agenda that is advanced, not by showing you the actual numbers, but by using bumper-sticker slogans to create the impression that things are "spiraling out of control." Oh wait, that's the phrase reporters use to characterize Iraq. Well, they don't use charts for that purpose, either (and for the same reason)."
The
source: "I am professor at a major research university, a registered Democrat, a liberal by most measures, but a radical conservative relative to the large majority of my colleagues." How can that be?
John (a different one) at Power Line summarizes
here, The Worst Thing that Ever Happened to the Economy.
